About SkyLink
SkyLink lets corporate travelers book and manage trips inside Slack & Teams the way they’d chat with an agent. Powered by LLMs, we automate complex itineraries, policy controls, and mid‑trip changes while saving enterprises millions in excess travel spend. We’re backed by Y Combinator, Menlo Ventures, Human Capital, and multiple Fortune 50 CEOs, with former global‑travel CEOs on our advisory board.
Why We’re Hiring
Every large customer runs travel on a different mix of GDSs, TMC partners, regional policies, and PNR formats. To make SkyLink “just work” everywhere, we need an engineer who can sit at the intersection of product, client success, and core engineering—owning each deployment end‑to‑end from scoping through post‑launch support.
The Role
You’ll be SkyLink’s first Forward‑Deployed Engineer, embedding with enterprise customers to translate their global travel requirements into elegant, maintainable configurations on top of our core platform.
What You’ll Do
- Lead deployments – Own the technical project plan, timeline, and stakeholder comms for rolling out SkyLink across regions.
- Design configurations – Map client policies, PNR formats, approval flows, and user groups into our multi‑tenant config layer.
- Integrate systems – Extend and maintain API connectors to GDSs (Sabre, Amadeus, Travelport), mid‑office tools, expense, HRIS, and data warehouses.
- Hands‑on engineering – Write Python/Django code, ETL scripts, and IaC to unblock launches; pair with core engineers on new features surfaced by customers.
- Test & validate – Build automated and manual test plans for global content, ticketing, refunds, and accounting edge cases.
- Support & iterate – Triage production issues, analyze logs, and ship fixes fast; feed learnings back into product roadmap.
- Be the face of SkyLink – Run technical workshops, demos, and QBRs with travel managers, IT teams, and TMC partners.
You Might Be a Fit If You
- Have 3‑8 years in backend, solutions, or implementation engineering at a B2B SaaS or travel‑tech company.
- Ship production code in Python (Django) and are comfortable reading/writing SQL.
- Can turn messy requirements into clear specs and push projects over the finish line.
- Communicate crisply with execs and engineers alike; you enjoy hopping on customer calls.
- Thrive in ambiguity, bias toward action, and care about craft but value velocity.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Slack/Teams apps, Celery, Redis, AWS, or infrastructure‑as‑code.
- Familiarity with corporate travel
Tech Stack
Python, Django, Celery, Postgres, Redis · React/TypeScript front‑end · AWS, Docker, Terraform · LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic)
Benefits
- Competitive salary & early‑stage equity
- Medical, dental, vision
- New‑hire laptop of your choice
- 401(k) with match
- Unlimited PTO & company recharge days
- Hybrid NYC schedule (Williamsburg HQ)
About the interview
Introduction zoom chat with a cofounder
This is an informal call for us to meet each other and get to know one another. The conversation will cover some light technical discussion about your past projects and your ability to code and build fairly involved systems. We would like to hear details about those projects and both your product and technical decisions (good or bad) which show ownership and autonomy. We also want to understand what you are looking for in your next role and why you are interested in early-stage startups. You will get to ask us about the role and learn about what working at SkyLink will feel like.
One technical/Customer Engagement Interview
These technical interviews will give you an ability to show off your system design and backend programming skills. We will evaluate your ability to critically think, create complex configurations, and scale real world systems. Additionally, we will discuss your familiarity and experience working with customers, managing deployments and implementations, and scaling enterprise systems.
